Organic food is certainly much more expensive. No wonder people ask themselves whether it's really worth the money. Fact is: within the EU, organic food must not be genetically modified and irradiated. Less pesticides are found in organic food. Whereas in conventional animal farming, antibiotics are used on a regular basis, in organic farming antibiotics are only used as a last measure AND they may only be used once. If an organic farmer uses antibiotics twice ore more, the meat cannot be sold as organic.
The problem with antibiotics is: if they are used extensively (which is the case with most conventional animal farming), germs become resistant. Antibiotic resistance is a phenomenon which should be taken seriously.
Just ask yourself. Do you want to eat chemical residues? I do not. After all, the consequences of eating residues of antibiotics, pesticides etc. are still unknown.
My choice is organic: I feel better when I eat it and it tastes so much better.
